SchoolsPushing Boundaries With Technology
A wealth of experience pioneering computing in the classroom – removing the ceiling and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
From teaching in his beloved Newcastle through to a great 12 years in St Leonards in Exeter, Dez pioneered a bespoke, dynamic computing curriculum for all the schools across the St Christopher's MAT in the South West.
Workshops Tailored to Your School
We can use the devices that are in place and established within the school's IT system, or are able to bring our own iPads, MacBook Pros, Microbits & Robots to facilitate the sessions.
Daily workshops include interactive sessions across year groups and can also include a staff CPD training session at the end of the school day.
Workshops can be tailored to your requirements/current topics and bring the curriculum to life! They include:
E-safety
Use of AI
Animation
Graphic Design
Coding/programming
Game Creation
App creation
Green screen
Music Production
Microbits
Makey Makey STEM
Robotics
Minecraft for Education (Collaborative problem solving)
E-Safety First
A Launchpad into Creativity
A solid and ever evolving E-Safety provision forms the foundation of what is often delivered into schools to then provide a launchpad into all of the creative coding and creative expressions of digital literacy. Children can deepen their understanding and experience and teachers be inspired and upskilled in workshops including animation, music production/voiceover, 3D design and printing, web design, graphic design, coding, AI integration and game creation.
AI in the Classroom
Practical, Safe AI Skills
The safe and effective use of AI in the classroom is a rapidly growing area which is generating excitement and caution in equal measure at the moment – we offer workshop sessions for both children and teachers around the practical use of AI in the classroom.
In Partnership
Working with Animate2Educate
We have a purposeful, long-time relationship with the award-winning 'Animate2Educate'; after being friends right from school, Martin was Dez's best man 25 years ago! ThriveTech Learning has a growing number of options for teachers currently offered by 'Animate2Educate' in the North East of England, offering direct classroom impact services alongside teacher training and full day conferences. Please do follow us below on social media for the latest information on what is available.
Case Study
An E-Safety Day That Pushes Boundaries
An E-Safety Day features engaging, age-appropriate sessions that teach children responsible online behaviour through hands-on activities. To maximise impact, we also offer after-school staff training to equip teachers with practical classroom resources.
A recent KS2 project shows what's possible: children designed their own 'E-Safety Superhero' in 2D, advanced into 3D using Tinkercad to print their characters in 3D, then used the printed figures to produce stop-motion animated films with custom audio in GarageBand and green-screen tech.
- Age-appropriate E-Safety sessions
- After-school staff training included
- Real KS2 project: 2D to 3D to stop-motion film
